Import/Export Roland Song to MIDI
« on: November 30, 2010, 01:13:16 PM »

Hi everybody,

because of numerous requests I will walk you through import and export procedure for MIDI files.
Prerequisites are installed and working latest version of SMFW30 v2.0.

MIDI Export

  • Click on MIDI Editor button
  • Open Diskimage with your songs. (In example I am using official Roland Disk #3 delivered with W30)
  • Right click on the song 'SWING CAFE'.
  • From the context menu select "Save MIDI".
  • Press Save button

Now should appear converted MIDI 'SWING CAFE.mid' file in My Roland\MIDI directory.

MIDI Import

  • Click on MIDI Editor button
  • Open empty Diskimage where you want import MIDI file.
  • Right click on the contents of disk.
  • From the context menu select "Load MIDI".
  • Select MIDI file to import.
  • Press Open button in the file requester.
  • Press button 'Save' on toolbar or in menu File > Save.

Now should in diskimage appear newly imported Roland Song. You can transfer diskimage to floppy and load it in Roland.

Thats all for now.

Thanks for the tip Miro!  Working with midi and the W30 sequencer is actually quite fun.  Once you get past the "linear" aspect of the sequencer, it's really not that hard to use.
