SMFW30 Version History
« on: September 05, 2010, 06:11:15 AM »
Hello!

I'm curious about the version history of SMFW30 and why both versions offer different editing capabilities.  I find that I have to use both versions 1 and 2 to do everything I need.  Thanks!

Hi Ricoche,

well you are right that SMFW30 has already a long history by first starting as a MS-DOS program, then initial Windows version and at last completely reworked final Windows version. In the span of years I have been adding features as I have needed or another users requested. There was no initial 'Grand design'  ;D. Can you please point me which features from previous versions are you missing in SMFW30 v2.0?

I am also planning to release update to ToneEd (extended Tone editing) and MIDIEd (Sysex problems). In connection to this I will update the website as well which is now to say the least very minimalistic  :-[. So I can place full changelog on all versions there.

cheers

Miro

Hi Miro,

Basically in version 1, I can access the patch editor and also edit most of the parameters in the tone editor.  However, with version 2, I can't access the patch editor nor edit anything other than "Memo" in the tone editor.  I can of course import WAV files, but that's pretty much it.  It seems that all of the editing functions were removed in version 2, at least my copy anyway.

Great news about future updates and releases!

Thanks!

Jim
