Hello,

I did some debugging and it seems this is related to the note-off velocity (used for Aftertouch in W30) fooling my note stop seek function. If MIDI Editor cannot find noteoff event it will set lenght of the note to 1. I will replace this default by quarter note duration. Correction is on the way  ;D

Hi Jim,

great to hear from you, I've been a bit worried when I've seen the news and also your site went down. I fully understand you cannot participate in my silly betatests while things like that are happening. Apparently on some of your blogs I have seen that you've had problems with quality of the imported samples. Later when things calm a bit down I would like to have an example of wave samples you were trying to import. I am working now on the new website and will release software as soon as possible.

good luck Jim

Well, well, well,

where are you people? I have received only one midi file and no wav files or anything else. Bugs squashing continues very well so next week I can place it online. Nevertheless I would like to have more input from you people.

thanks in advance

Hi Nick,

I have just arrived back from our family vacation in France :), (we've got some excellent sunny weather) so sorry for the delay. I will be taking look at this tomorrow. Thanks for the provided midi file. I will post asap if I can merge bugfix for this into the new version of SMFW30 I have ready to be released.

best regards

Hey guys, it's here!!!

I have done what I could and I 'think' I have a working package for you.

For the sake of quality :P can you please send me your wave files, midi files and diskimages so I can do some final testing?
Thanks in advance for this!

In the meanwhile I will update the website for launch. There will be automatic updating service as well so from now on you don't have to re-install each time a new update is released.

now here is a changelog:

Whole package
 - Windows 7 compatibility
 - cosmetic updates  ;D
 - help files (partial rewrite and update of the screenshots)
 - Internet Update (new development)
 - auto open diskimage in the Tone or MIDI editor (new development)
 - quick swap of diskimage between the editors (new development)

CD Editor (Rewrite)
- complete rewrite of CD accessing routines to use SPTI instead of ASPI. (No more additional painful install of ASPI drivers which work btw only on 32bit windows)
- x64 Windows compatibility
- preparations for Roland Harddrive reading

Tone Editor (Bug Fixes)
- Import of waves with odd length
- Editing of tone/subtone title
- Editing of all tone/subtone parameters with waveform preview

MIDI Editor (Bug Fixes)
- Correction of SYSEX troubles
- Correction of gate time 1 bug (http://smfw30.svetlik.be/forum/index.php/topic,165.0.html)

Patch Editor (new development)
- display of Patches with their Tones/Sub-Tones hierarchically
- Edit Patch name
- Delete Patch
- Save Patch (without sample data)
- Load Patch (with auto and manual mapping to use another Tones/Sub-Tones)

best regards

It's done  ;D. Well after some experiments it works now perfectly without the installation hell of ASPI. I am even expanding it a bit to read Roland Harddisk in the future, but that is not for this release  :o.

Hi guys,

I am putting some work into the SMFW30 website so we have worthy new release :). I've got an idea if anybody of you would be interested in the kind of online library of patches and tones accessible directly from SMFW30? Well there is certainly room for ideas but in the first instance I would like to know your point of view on such a functionality.

thanks in advance for your fast replies ;)

Hey guys,

Michael was so kind to send me the PCB for his pcmcia drive so I will be buying components and soldering  :o soon  ::). I hope to have working drive in some 2 months if everything goes well :P. Then there is task of debugging it with W30 to see if we can make this thing to boot with our dear W30.

I'll keep you posted

Hi Leon,

I was considering to buy such an interface because my e-mu 1820 gave it up :(. Are there drivers for 64 bit Windows for this interface?

Hi guys,

I know you are all impatiently waiting for new SMFW30 but I still need to do something. There is one big annoyance on CD Editor => ASPI32. Unfortunately ASPI does not work on 64bit os so I am rewriting CD Editor to use SPTI.

cheers

Hi Everybody,

Patch Editor is finished  8). There is for sure room for improvement in the next versions but for first stable version I am quite satisfied  ;). So now the features:

  • hierarchical display of Patches with their tones and subtones
  • display of Patch parameters and position
  • Patch name editing
  • deleting of Patches
  • saving of Patches (Patch parameters and mapping only for the moment, so no wave data are being included)
  • loading of Patches with auto mapping of tones/subtones if they are present on the diskimage otherwise Tone Mapping dialog is displayed and you can replace it with another that is present on the diskimage

This is quite all for the first implementation. In any case I am able to finally put together the new release of SMFW30. I would still like to very much fix my online update program for SMFW30 but I dont want to invest too much time there.

best regards

News / Re: SCSI Madness

Hello Jim,

just to keep the consistency :) I have replied about my recent finds over the SCSI flash storage emulation here:

http://smfw30.svetlik.be/forum/index.php/topic,161.0.html

For W30 boot drives, solution is to look for the small red Apple sticker which is stating the compatibility with Mac and capacity below 300MB. I will post photo soon. I think we can best create a new thread where we post pictures and specs of drives which work with W30.

cheers

Hey Jim,

cool find. I am gonna try it. I was even planning to make SoundFont to W30 conversion myself. So it is great I dont have to  ;D.

Hi Jim,

sorry for late reply ;). I must say that this looks quite nice but with the limitations that W30 already has we really need solution to emulate HD. I am currently in contact with Micha Bauerle which made complete SCSI - PCMCIA CF card reader (http://micha.freeshell.org/pcmcia_drive/index.php). He will send me a board soon so I can test it. Great is that I can tweak the firmware to hopefully emulate behaviour of for example my old QuantumPro 80S hdd which works with W30 seamlessly. In any case I will keep you all posted about the progress.

cheers

Miro  ::)
