General Discussion / Your W-30 in Action
« on: February 14, 2014, 12:04:52 PM »
Hi Everyone  :)

I was thinking it would be cool to have a place where we can hear songs you've either wrote on the W-30 or used it in your tracks. Perhaps links to YouTube or SoundCloud?

I'm eager to hear peoples replies

Hi Miro

Sorry for mega long delay, I lost my password many moons ago but managed to find it again.

Got this fixed in the end, had to replace the whole mainboard (I presume it was the sensors which turn voltage into digital information.

Cheers and good to see the forum up and well :)

Guys regarding the HxC, How is the memory card formatted? Is it just fat32, pop into my pc, and manually drag and drop disk .IMG files onto it? or is there software designed for this which imports W-30 IMG files onto the memory card?

Infact I might just bite the bullet and spend £100 on the below as it's said to be working on the W30. ooo Lots of money

Hi Guys

Just read through the post, and looks like I'll be getting one HxC as I'm about to replaced the floppy drive for the 3rd time and it's getting a little frustrating.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with these = SFRM72-FU-DL USB Floppy Drive?
There very cheap (around £30\$50) and format at 720k and I can see jumpers onboard to hopefully choose between drive A and B. However even though £30 isn't much but I don't want to buy to find it doesn't work.
Please see = http://www.amazon.co.uk/SFRM72-FU-DL-Floppy-Drive-Emulator-Gray/dp/B00C4PTOJM

What does everyone think?

Cheers

I’ve had my w30 for around 10 years, and about 3 years ago, for no reason what so ever one morning 10 or 12 of the keys stopped working. Very rarely one or two might start working for 2 minutes but generally not. About 20 minutes ago I replaced the keyboard from an old W-30 which has never worked nor had the keyboard been tested, put it all together and exactly the same thing happened. To be honest I don’t know if it’s the same keys that aren’t working.

I’m at a bit of a loss, I can’t see the chances of me owning 2 keyboards that around 12 of the keys are defective. I’ve tried using a different OS version, making sure the connectors are pushed in properly but nothing works.

I haven’t tried taking the actual keyboard apart and having a fiddle encase I can’t put it back together.

Has anyone else had this problem? PS someone mentioned about a chip on the main board that could be the issue  :o

Hi Everyone,

Even though this is Miros SMFW30 site, I thought maybe it'd be good to gave a topic about problems people may or may not have with there W30. Like crashing, booting issues, broken screen etc...

If so let me get the ball rolling  :D

Hi Miro

Am back on that case again, been moving all over the country and finally set everything up.

I think this would be a great idea, whats the best way to do it?

I've got quite alot of disks that I could upload, for example loads of the original L-50... sound library which I think i've used once, but someone else might find them useful.

Hope all is well

Bugs / Re: SMFW30 2.1.0.0 Technical Difficulties

Hey Miro!

Downloaded the new version last night, I must say I'm very impressed, good work! Am sorry to say one little error I found was, when converting a midi file to a Roland Song, it did mostly work. All 8 tracks went across, and the gate problems all sorted like you said, but after playing it back on the w30 at around 20 measures some channels start going funny. For example gaps in the notes, some kind of go out of sync with the sequence. (excuse me for my poor technical vocabulary) I'll e-mail you the disk image and midi file if you fancy a look. But apart from that, everything seems to be cushdy!

Thanks chap!

Hi Miro. Just opening this post to following my e-mail. For anyone else thats interested here's the post:

******************************************************************************
I found your SMFW30 software online yesterday and have been glued to it ever since. I'm a music student and have been wanting to use my w30 as a sequencer for years at gigs, but never quite got the hang of it.

The feature that got my attention was converting midi files to w30 songs. I've tried this many times and it does work completely, apart from every note on every channels gate time is set to 1, so theres no length to notes. I thought it might be Cubase exporting midi files incorrectly but their fine as type 1. Do you have any ideas? or possibly something I'm doing wrong.

**********************

Hi Nick,

thanks for your interest in SMFW30. I am currently concluding the betatest of next major release, can you please send me example of your MIDI file which cannot be converted? I will give it a try. Also I have registered you on our forum so you can join the discussion ;-). SMFW30 is by no means 'perfect' and I do not have anymore so much time as I had some 15 years ago :). So input like yours is very valuable for the improvement of SMFW30.
